Smell of Napalm...

After 2 months of waiting for a visa, 3 days of packing tedium and 20 hours after takeoff. I finally arrived in Vietnam

OOH-RAH

Several tourist jaunts, lots of local beer, and two sleepless nights later; I finally have enough internet to upload that picture of the russian tank that crashed into the gates of the reunification palace; effectively ending the war.

(The Same Tank in 1975)

This blog won't be about the war, and I probably won't get many more chances to take photos next to famous machines of destruction. But in Ho Chi Minh, it is everywhere.

  1. Hi Adam: Blog looks great. I can't over the fact I got a draft number late in the war, while in college, and here you are in Saigon ( Ho Chi Minh city), during college, studying. War is such a waste. Any way keep the pics and stories coming. Glad your there safe. Love, Dad

PS: Bi from SF, Teds cousin, arrived in Vietnam a few days ago! Maybe you'll bump into him

  3. Hi Darling! You made it! I love the back ground graphics of your blog and the images. Fab.! How is the Pho and other delicious foods.(spring rolls etc)?? I think I was by that tank too ?:) Awesome writing and keeping us up to date. And yes in Ho Chi Min city the tanks and left over props from the war are all over. Wait to you take the boat ride down the Mekong Delta River.. Very interesting. I found the ride cool but eery. The South China Sea is very beautiful. How is the weather? Hot or Extremely hot?? Stay cool and take more pictures. xxx
